The journalist was informed from Xiaogan Investigation Team of the State Statistical Bureau that the sample survey of 100 urban residents in Xiaogan City showed that the total per-capital income of household for urban residents in 2012 increased by 14.3% year on year to 21,232 yuan. The per-capital consumption expenditure was 12,945 yuan, up 11.6% year on year over that of last year. The annual urban residents’ account balance all witnessed a substantial growth.
Wage and retirement pay were still the main sources of income
In 2012, the per-capital wage income of urban residents in Xiaogan City was 15,092 yuan, which was three-quarters of total income and was still the main source of income. Because of the increase of labor costs, the remuneration package of service industry and other labor-intensive industries has improved and increase of the lowest income standard of citywide stuff has also improved and with other factors, all of them worked together to promote the increase of wage income. The annual wage income of urban residents in the city increased 1,180 yuan, and the growth rate was 8.5%. Then the per-capital transfer income that focused on pension and retirement pay was 3,991 yuan, which was 16% of total income, and increased 936 yuan over the same period of last year. The annual per-capital disposable income was 19,336 yuan, and up 13.2% year on year.
Over half of the expenditure spent on food and clothes
The per-capital consumption expenditure of household residents in Xiaogan City was 12,945 yuan, up 11.6% year on year. Tood and clothes in consumption expenditure was 55%, which constitutes the main aspects of expenditure.
Food expenditure was still the bulk of resident consumption. The per-capital food expenditure of Xiaogan urban residents in 2012 was 5,338 yuan, up 8.5% year on year The proportion (Engel’s coefficient) of food expenditure in consumption expenditure was 41%, decreased by 1.2% year on year. It approached to the rich standard of 40% step by step, which showed that the living standard of urban residents had a further improvement. The per-capital vegetable expenditure of food expenditure was 745 yuan; fresh and dry fruits expenditure was 469 yuan; cake, milk and dairy expenditure was 383 yuan; the catering service expenditure was 1,154 yuan and these shown that the food composition of urban residents gradually presented diversity.
The other highlight of expenditure was clothes. The per-capital clothes expenditure of Xiaogan urban residents was 1,851 yuan, up 17.7% over the same period of last year, which was 14% of consumption expenditure. The per-capital clothes, shoes expenditure of urban residents respectively were 1,439 yuan, 355 yuan.
Traffic and communication expenditure had a substantial growth
In 2012, the per-capital traffic and communication expenditure of Xiaogan urban residents was 1,222 yuan, up 35.9% year on year and the growth rate in consumption expenditure was the largest, and the proportion in consumption expenditure improved from 7.7% to 9.4% over the same period of last year.
The main reason of traffic and communication expenditure rise was expenditure increase of resident household transport and means of communication. The per-capital household transport expenditure of Xiaogan urban residents in 2012 was 162 yuan, doubled year on year. The per-capital means of communication expenditure was 178 yuan, up 2.6 times over the same period of last year. Hundreds of residents owned 210 mobile telephones showing a increase of 36 compared with that of last year; hundred of residents owned 98 motorcycles or mopeds and increased 38 compared with that of last year; hundreds of residents owned 12 cars.
