Recently, the China Highway & Transportation Society published the list of projects selected for 2025 “Beautiful Highway”. Three rural highway projects, nine ordinary national and provincial trunk highway projects and three expressway projects in Hubei Province were selected. Among them, the Hanchuan-Tianmen Section of Wuhan-Chongqing Expressway was included on the list.
The Hanchuan-Tianmen Section of Wuhan-Chongqing Expressway, a key project under the “Skeleton Unlocking Project” of Hubei Province’s Comprehensive Transportation Development Plan for the 14th Five-Year Period, was invested in and constructed by Hubei Communications Investment Group and officially opened to traffic on January 21, 2025. This project starts south of Liji Village, Tian’erhe Town, Hanchuan City, crosses Wuhan Metropolitan Area Ring Expressway and connects with the Wuhan-Hanchuan Section of Wuhan-Chongqing Expressway, crosses the Suizhou-Yueyang Expressway and connects with the Tianmen West Section of Wuhan-Chongqing Expressway. The main line is constructed according to the standards for bidirectional six-lane expressway, with a design speed of 120 km/h, a roadbed width of 34m, and a total length of 37.442 km.
It is reported that the event is hosted by the Tourism Transportation Committee of the China Highway & Transportation Society and has been successfully held for three consecutive sessions. It aims to select beautiful highway projects that are safe, smooth, beautiful, comfortable, green and eco-friendly, thereby boosting industry development and rural revitalization, and accelerating the Beautiful China Initiative in the transportation sector. The projects selected for 2025 “National Beautiful Highway” serve as models in terms of ecological protection, industrial promotion, tourism services, etc.
