Xiaogan City is located in the central section of northeast in Hubei Province, south of Tongbai Mountain and Dabie Mountain and north of Yangtze River, east of Han River, and the south of Xiaogan abuts upon East Lake and West Lake in Wuhan and Xiantao City; the north of Xiaogan City borders on Xinyang City in Henan Province; the west is connected with such cities and counties as Suizhou, Jinmen, Tianmen etc., and the east links with Hong’an County in Huanggang City and Huangpi District in Wuhan. The geographic position of Xiaogan City is at the northern latitude 30°23′-31°52′, and east longitude 113°19′-113°19′. Throughout Xiaogan, the length between south and north is about 163 kilometers; the width between east and west is about 122 kilometers. In 2010, the area of national land resource of Xiaogan is 8922.7 square kilometers, which occupies 4.8% of the 185750 square kilometers of the whole province. The area of total cultivated land resource at the end of 2010 is 302360 hectares, which has increased by 2120 hectares compared with that of the last year, in which the cultivated area for common use is 261270 hectares, which has increased by 600 hectares. The highway mileage from the urban area in Xiaogan to the center of Wuhan is 59 kilometers.
