Nanxiang Radish


Anlu has a long history of cultivating radish, among which “Nanxiang Radish” is famous. Nanxiang Radish is produced in the south of Anlu City (the south coast of Fuhe River), the soil in which is mostly oil sandy soil and moisture soil, suitable for production of radish. The white radish produced in this area features oblate and persimmon-shaped, light sweet and crisp, water-sufficient and easy peeling, which can be fried, stewed, pickled and cured, and the taste is delicious. Nanxiang Radish enjoys unique quality, and is rich in sugar, amino acids and a large amount of carotene, Nanxiang Radish, except for being prepared as vegetables, functions as guiding qi downward, help digesting, relieving cough and reducing sputum, removing dryness and promoting the secretion of saliva or body fluid, relieving internal heat or fever and relaxing the bowels, etc. It is commonly said that: once Nanxiang radish is available, the herbal medicine shops will face shutting down. OnJanuary 14th, 2014, Anlu Nanxiang Radish Technology Association successfully registered the geographical indication trademark of “Nanxiang Radish”.
